Stop Chasing Likes, Start Spotting Buyers
The Problem With Surface-Level Signals
It feels good when someone likes your post, drops a heart emoji, or leaves a “love this!” comment. But here’s the truth: likes don’t pay the bills.
Not every question or interaction means someone’s ready to buy. Some are just curiosity, some are polite noise, and some are genuine buying signals. If you treat them all the same, you’ll either burn yourself out chasing the wrong leads, or miss the ones that were actually ready to say yes.
Curiosity vs. Intent
The difference is subtle but powerful:
Curiosity sounds like:
“Cool, what platform do you use?”
“How long did it take you to make this?”
“Is this like [insert trend/product]?”
Nice questions, but not buying questions. They’re kicking tires.
Intent sounds like:
“Do you offer this as a service?”
“What’s the price?”
“When’s your next round starting?”
“Is there a way I can join?”
These are signals. When someone starts asking how, when, or how much, they’ve moved past interest into intent.
Why This Distinction Matters
If you’re chasing curiosity, you’ll end up answering endless questions that go nowhere.
If you learn to recognize intent, you’ll know exactly when to lean in, without feeling pushy.
How to Respond Without Pressure
When you spot a buying signal, the goal isn’t to jump in with a hard sell. The goal is to make the path to “yes” as simple and natural as possible.
If they ask about price → give a clear, direct answer and link them to the offer page.
If they ask when it’s available → tell them the date and invite them to join the waitlist or pre-sale.
If they ask if you do this as a service → reply with confidence: “Yes, here’s how we can work together.”
You’re not shoving them forward, you’re removing obstacles that stop them from moving forward on their own.
Train Yourself to Listen Differently
The shift is less about talking more and more about listening better. Scroll through your comments, DMs, and emails and separate them into two buckets: curiosity vs. intent.
That one practice will change how you see your audience. You’ll realize most of the noise isn’t worth chasing, but the handful of signals? Those are gold.
Closing Thought
Stop measuring success by likes, hearts, or surface-level approval. Start listening for intent, the real signals that someone’s ready to buy.
Because the difference between a “cool idea” and a paying customer isn’t louder marketing. It’s your ability to hear the shift when someone goes from curious to committed.
